The AZ Reining Horse Show 2016 will be held at WestWorld in DC Ranch this week. Reining is a discipline born out of the Wild Wild West where cowboys and equestrians showcase the awesome relationship between horse and rider. Named after the signature reining event move, the sliding stop, the Arizona Reining Horse Show Inside Slide is a judged event where competitors are charged with completing precision patterns including slow small circles, large fast circles, and 360 degree spins in one place. Patterns are judged on how willfully guided the horse is by its rider. The show promises an excited blend of speed, maneuverability, and partnership between man and horse. Often called the “Dressage” of Western events, Reining is a blend of horse and rider by combining speed and maneuverability through this series of intricate patterns.
The Arizona Reining Horse Association (AzRHA) was founded in 1984 as an Affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). The AzRHA is a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting and growing the sport of Reining in the state of Arizona and beyond. The AzRHA adheres to the rules and regulations of the NRHA and provides a forum for exhibitors, breeders, and anyone interested in the sport of Reining.
