The City of Scottsdale has a new way for people to get around town with the new bike-share companies appearing throughout the city. Scottsdale residents and visitors can find bikes near parks, shopping centers, employment centers, bus stops and other places around the city. You can find bikes near you through the bike-share apps. The bikes are equipped with GPS wireless technology and self-activating locks. Scan a code on the bike with the app and it unlocks. Rides generally cost $1 per 30-minute ride and are paid through the apps, some companies offer monthly packages. Once you have finished your ride, park the bike safely and shut the lock on the back wheel. You should park only at bike racks or areas that are designated for bike parking. After completing your ride, the app provides users with a trip summary.
There are four bike-share companies operating within Scottsdale city limits:
-LimeBike (green and yellow bicycles)
-Spin (orange bicycles)
-Ofo (yellow bicycles pictured above)
-GR:D (green bicycles)
Because the dockless systems don’t require bike racks to station the bikes, there is no public investment to operate. The bike-share companies are fully responsible for the operation and repair of their fleets.
