Without a doubt, one of the first and most difficult decisions you will make as a parent is about childcare. If you must go back to work soon after having your baby, then hopefully you have been researching this for a while. Finding the right fit for you and your child will require a little work on your part, but we are lucky here in Scottsdale to have so many options.
One such option is La Petite Academy located at 8433 E. Raintree Drive in Scottsdale. They offer programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years. Open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, La Petite teachers and staff come from a variety of education backgrounds. Each child gets individual attention to help plan a curriculum that meets each child’s specific developmental needs. The curriculum emphasizes language and literacy, cognitive development, social-emotional skills, physical activity and creativity. Combined with a nurturing environment, La Petite might be a nice fit for you and your child.
Another childcare option in the Scottsdale area is Scottsdale Child Care and Learning Centers. This is a private child care center that meets your child’s needs-socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Scottsdale Child Care takes infants to four-year-olds. They have three locations in Scottsdale and there hours are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Scottsdale Child Care Centers pride them selves on not being just a “babysitter”. They offer computer classes, gymnastics, dance, Spanish, music and more.
The YMCA Scottsdale and Desert Hills provides childcare as well. They start in preschool and go through high school offering after school sports, activities and homework clubs. This is a popular choice because they provide transportation to and from school with hours on school holidays and half days.
The average cost for childcare is about $700 to $1000 a month depending on different factors such a time needed, age of your child and programs offered. It is important to visit each facility and ask them as many questions as you need to until you are comfortable with your decision.
