Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for 5th of May) is recognized worldwide as an occasion to pay tribute to the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in on May 5, 1862. Here are some of the festivities in Scottsdale to celebrate the Mexican victory:
Old Town Gringos
The two-story Old Town Gringos bar is known for its large patio space in Old Town Scottsdale. Their celebration titled “Gringo de Mayo,” with live music starting at 11am with Kung Fu Grip, Elvis Before Noon, Vintage Wednesday and DJ Transl8r. Beer specials include $1 off Pacifico, $5 draft Modelo Especial, $4 Pacifico and Model Especial cans, and buckets and pitchers of beer for $20. There will also be $6 house margaritas in seven different flavors and taco platters will only be $11.

This lively Mexican cantina in Old Town Scottsdale will host Mariachi Tierra Linda performing from 3 to 6pm. The party is sponsored by Milagro tequila, so there will be drink specials all day long!

The beach cantina-inspired bar in Desert Ridge will feature live music and DJs for Cinco de Mayo, while serving Mexican favorites including tacos, fajitas, burritos and margaritas. Sandbar Desert Ridge will have performances from Vaughn Willis and Ear Candy throughout the day.
