Searching for an “explosive good time”? Take a road trip to the Titan Missile Museum, near Tucson. Visitors journey through time to stand on the front line of the Cold War at this preserved Titan II missile site. It is the final remaining missle site of the 54 Titan II missiles that were on alert across the United States from 1963 to 1987. This one-of-a-kind museum gives visitors a rare look at the technology used by the United States to deter nuclear war. My family had a “blast” during the one hour tour that walks you down steep stairways to get real experience of the underground missile site. It’s riveting to think this was once one of America’s most top secret places, but is now a National Historic Landmark! My teenagers give this Arizona adventure a two thumbs up and I also give a two thumbs up for the summer history lesson!
