The Musical Instrument Museum near Desert Ridge will host its first outdoor music festival on October 18-19, 2014. The MIM fest is a two-day family friendly music festival set against the backdrop of the magnificent Sonoran Desert and McDowell Mountains. The festival was inspired by the MIM’s commitment to celebrate musical traditions and cultures from around the world. The festival, taking place on the MIM’s 20 -acre grounds, will feature extraordinary musical acts, energetic dancers, street performers and culinary delights. The wide variety of musical acts includes Latin rock, Ethiopian grooves, Celtic melodies and traditional bluegrass.
Be sure to bring the kids along as there will be a children’s section where kids will be able to explore special play areas and participate in a MIMkids Mini Music Makers class. In addition, guests can take hula lessons, watch a Chinese Lion dance team, and East Indian dancing. Come hungry because 13 local food trucks are slated to bring an assortment of food choices such as burgers, BBQ, pizza, hot dogs, chili, donuts and much more!
The Outdoor Music Festival at MIM runs from 10am to 5 pm each day. The MIM is located at 4725 E Mayo Boulevard.
