With this year’s record breaking Phoenix Rising squad in the heat of their 2019 Playoff Run, we decided to head out to Casino Arizona Field in South Scottsdale. This “pop up” stadium houses 6,200 fans, with luxury suites, and a supporter section infamously known and feared by our competitors, making a trip to Casino Arizona Field a dreaded venue!
2019 USL Playoff Run
This Friday night, Phoenix Rising FC takes on Real Monarchs SLC in the Western Conference Semi Finals for the USL (United Soccer League). This is a do or die situation for Phoenix. The winner will move on to the Western Conference Finals, and the loser knocked out of their playoff run.
Breaking Records in 2019
Phoenix Rising had their best regular season ever, and the best regular season any team has ever had. Phoenix broke the record for the most number of points accumulated in a single season in USL Championship history. They also went on a TWENTY GAME WIN STREAK! Yes… you read that right, a 20 game winning streak. The streak lasted four months from May 10 to Sept. 14. Their streak marked the longest ever winning streak in both American professional soccer as well for any Arizona professional sports team.
Dollar Beer Night in Scottsdale, Arizona
Friday night’s playoff game is also a Dollar Beer night! A promotion started by the team for all games that fall on a Friday, where bud light cans are only $1. It is not uncommon for over 20,000 bud light cans to be sold in ONE night! With total sellouts, and both excited and well hydrated fans cheering them on, it is no surprise that the team has NEVER lost a dollar beer night. They are now 15-0-0 on all dollar beer nights!
