Baseball Spring Training 2018 has begun! The Arizona Cactus League consisting of 10 stadiums and 15 MLB teams and Scottsdale is fortunate to host 2 of the stadiums and 3 teams! Salt River fields is the home field for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Scottsdale Stadium is the home field of the San Francisco Giants.
Salt River Fields
Salt River Fields, located at 7555 N. Pima Road in Scottsdale, opened in 2011. There are 13 fields (including the main stadium that sits 13,000) split between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Salt River Fields is a fan favorite because there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
The grassy area, also knows as the Banana Boat Lawn, is pretty expansive, even when it’s crowded. The facility was built for optimum shade, but since the sun is always shining in Scottsdale, free sunscreen is provided for fans along the Banana Boat Lawn. Not only does the stadium allow amazing views of the game, it also has amazing views of the McDowells, Four Peaks to Red Mountain for fans to enjoy.
A little trivia-Salt River Fields was the first Major League Baseball property built on an Indian reservation. Tribal influences are seen throughout the park with some history of the Pima and Maricopa tribes. Restroom signs are in Maricopa, Pima and English.

Scottsdale Stadium
Scottsdale Stadium is located at 7408 E. Osborn Road in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale. Scottsdale Stadium is the home of the San Francisco Giants and games attract large crowds of fans.
Parking for Scottsdale Stadium is limited, but the City of Scottsdale Trolley has a stop at the stadium’s Gate E, so you can park pretty much anywhere along the route and hitch a free ride to and from the game. Be sure to get to the game early to hang out along the rail behind the first-base line near the Giants dugout to meet the players.
Scottsdale Stadium partners with the Scottsdale Charros, a community group that raises funds from banner and program advertising and by selling tickets to the Charro Lodge, an all-inclusive mostly shaded VIP area. The Charros donate more than $500,000 to East Valley charities each year.
