Carefree borders Cave Creek, AZ and the two regions share many of the same amenities. In fact, Cave Creek and Carefree are often considered to be one community. They both offer an elegant, but laidback desert lifestyle just out of reach of the big city lights. The motto around these parts is “Home of Cowboys and Caviar, Where the Old West Meets the New.” This reflects the fact that this is a very upscale area. Many people visit Carefree to see the Sundial, as this is a popular tourist attraction. It is amongst the largest working sundials in the Western hemisphere and measures 90 feet in diameter. One of the popular local places for tourists to stay is the Carefree Resort and Conference Center. This building is situated on 23 beautiful acres and the resort has 222 rooms. Only 17 miles east of Carefree is Bartlett Lake, which is a water attraction where you can swim, fish, hike or boat. Owners of Carefree homes also have easy access to the Spur Cross Conservation area that spans over 2,000 miles of diverse Sonoran desert. Of course, there is also the Cave Creek Recreation area that has gorgeous trails that loop around the mountain.
