On Sunday, November 9th, 2014 locally owned and operated Carmel’s Coffee and Bakery on 42nd Street and Camelback Road closed its well-known Arcadia neighborhood restaurant. Best known for its local coffee and homestyle menu and 1940s vintage house ambiance. The local business was once awarded the “Best New Restaurants” title by Phoenix Magazine, now has bigger plans in store. Owner Patrick Flanigan is moving the restaurant half a block away south of Camelback to 4730 N. 44th Street. The location is being remolded from an Arcadia home on 44th Street to a neighborhood restaurant. The new restaurant will be named Charlie Fine. It will serve the same breakfast menu offered at Carmel’s, but will also expand to include a lunch, dinner and alcohol menu. Charlie Fine is expected to open in the beginning of February.
