Just like a John Wayne movie, a showdown at the OK Corral is brewing in Cave Creek. Cave Creek is trying to rustle the motto “The West’s Most Western Town” away from Scottsdale. Cave Creek claims that at one time Scottsdale may have been the most western town, but now it is full of upscale shopping, Maserati dealerships and new buildings. Cave Creek claims it still has a rugged cow town feel where people can still ride their horses to the store, there is still tons of open space and there is even bull riding at one restaurant/bar in town.
Scottsdale is not about to give up on their trademarked motto, which has been in place for 66 years. They claim reasons to keep the rights to their title include the Parada Del Sol parade and Rodeo, The Hashknife Pony Express and the more than 100 events that take place annually at Westworld.
Which town do you think deserves the title “The West’s Most Western Town”? Them fightin’ words might not go down in a blaze of glory, but for now, Scottsdale does not intend to give it up easily.
