Cycling enthusiasts are celebrating today because the Carefree Town Council voted unanimously to enter into an inter-government agreement with Cave Creek to build bike lanes through the two communities. This vote enables the town of Cave Creek to seek a grant to design bike lanes along Cave Creek, Pima and Tom Darlington Roads. The Cave Creek Town Council is scheduled to take up the issue on August 19, and the Valley’s cycling community is lobbying to win the council’s support. Cyclists in the Valley often complain that there are very few safe areas to ride their bikes around town and there have been several recent deaths in accidents involving bikes that have been hit by cars. This vote is a big step in the right direction, improving the safety for cyclists and motorists alike.
