The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale, 17020 N. Hayden Road, began renovations in April 2014. The goal was to ensure TPC Scottsdale’s future as a golf resort and host of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the PGA Tour’s best-attended golf tournament.
The renovations include a renovated clubhouse with more locker room and a meeting space. According to Scottsdale’s executive director of public works, Dan Worth, of the $15 million project cost, about $4.5 million paid for the clubhouse and $10.5 million paid for the course itself. Scottsdale issued debt to pay for the project. The debt service will be paid by revenues from the city’s hotel-bed tax collections, as well as a temporary increase in the annual fee the TPC pays to the city to operate the course.
As part of the course projects, more than 250 trees were planted. New green locations are on holes two, three, four and fourteen, and there were significant fairway and green complex modifications on hole thirteen. The renovated bunkers now feature white sand, which was formerly brown sand, for a more dramatic look.
The grand reopening for the Stadium Course at TPC is December 5th, 2014.
