The Scottsdale Public Art’s Canal Convergence Water + Art + Light is 10 consecutive days of engaging, interactive experiences along the Scottsdale Waterfront from November 9–18th, 2018. The free event features large-scale art installations by local, national and international artists. Prepare for fire (Walter Productions’ Floatus installation with 28 fire shows spread across the event’s 10-day span), ice (a 67-foot-long tunnel called Iceberg, where user-activated lights and sounds tell the story of its namesake) and butterflies (a series of colorful, mechanical creatures called Light Flutter by Australia’s Skunk Control). All art installations are on display each day of the event.
Activities during the ten day event include Family Days on November 11th and 18th with hands-on activities like natural dye workshops, screen printing and glow-in-the-dark fun. Artist talks, workshops and other presentations will be held through the week highlighting themes of creativity and sustainability. A variety of tours educate visitors to the history of the canals in the valley, information about the featured art installations and permanent public artworks throughout Scottsdale.
