The Arizona Fine Art Expo gives art aficionados the chance to ask artists about their inspiration and techniques. The 10-week Scottsdale event, which starts January 22nd and runs through April 3rd, will feature 120 artists from around the world who will work in a 44,000-square-foot space under the white tents at the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Jomax roads in North Scottsdale. Judi Combs, the CEO/Partner of Arizona Fine Art Expo, said some of the artists take a day off now and then, but many of them never miss a day of the 72-day event. “The artists love sharing and conversing with the patrons. Many friendships have come about from one-on-one discussions,” Combs said. Visitors can watch as an artist impressively sketches in pencil, charcoal and pastels, while nearby another artist may be chiseling and carving in stone. There’s even something for Lego fans as David Shaddix uses the colorful plastic bricks to make sculptures and “paintings.”
