The Boulders Resort and Spa near Carefree will get its first major face-lift since its original construction in the 1980’s. New designs will feature natural materials in colors related to Native American art with special emphasis on the Hohokam Indian Tribe. Legend has it that the original designer of the property lived on the land for a year before building it to gain an intimate understanding of how the sunlight interacted with its trademark boulders.
Renovations of the 160 guest room/casitas are already in progress and are set to be done by Thanksgiving. In addition, their most popular restaurant, the Palo Verde, and the lobby will be renovated as well. It will also add a ballroom with a spacious patio and fireplace that extend toward a waterfall and pool. The resort is hoping that the facelift will bring more guests starting this season. This is good news for the Town of Carefree as most visitors make the short drive to the town’s eclectic center. They are thrilled that the Boulders is getting a face-lift!
