While the winter weather remains sunny and mild down in the Valley of the Sun, drive only two hours north and you will find yourself in a winter wonderland! Head north on the I-17 and by the time you reach Exit 320 for Schnebly Hill Road the ground will likely be covered in snow from December through March. You are welcome to pull off any exit to get out of your car and play in the snow and build a snowman! (Just don’t get too excited to play in the snow and stop ON the freeway!)
Once in Flagstaff, you can keep driving a few miles northwest to the Wing Mountain Snow Play Area. The Wing Mountain Snow Play Area is for all ages to go sledding and enjoy the snow! The cost is $20 for up to 5 people in one vehicle. Amenities include portable bathrooms, food & beverage vendors and of course hats, gloves & sleds for sale. If you are looking for more adventure, Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort is also a short distance northwest of Flagstaff. Arizona Snowbowl is great for experienced and new skiers alike! Ski school is offered for ages 4 and up. Many of the ski school packages include lift tickets and equipment rental. Experienced skiers can develop and test their freestyle skills at the Sunset Terrain Parks. There are three parks with progressive features for a natural learning process.
