On Sunday, October 12th at 5am nearly 2,000 cyclist are riding in the 11th annual Tour de Scottsdale ride, which takes off from Market Street in DC Ranch. Last year the Tour raised nearly $50,000 for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. Funds from the tour are critical to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy’s missions, especially as the McDowell Sonoran Preserve has grown over the years. In 2013 the Preserve (which is the largest urban preserve in the America) added 6,393 additional acres of land. The Preserve now encompasses about 47 square miles. The Tour supports the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy’s efforts to address important questions regarding how communities can best protect and sutain urban preserves.
