It’s time again to run for the roses at the 143rd Kentucky Derby in 2017! Even if you can’t make it to Kentucky to see the race in person, these locations in Scottsdale and Phoenix promise to bring the excitement of the race to Arizona on Saturday, May 6th.
Located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Bevvy is the perfect place to enjoy the Kentucky Derby in style this weekend! The Bevvy has four off track betting booths to place your off-track bets, but if you prefer to simpley watch the action, there are large 80-inch televisions to view the most exciting two minutes in sports. Table reservations can be made by calling ahead. Champagne specials are available to mark the occasion or if you want to follow with tradition, of course there will be Bulleit Bourbon mint juleps. Don’t forget to “dress to impress” as there will be Best Dressed awards handed out.
The Bevvy is an upscale gastropub, specializing in handcrafted cuisine. This pub is outfitted with wood-paneled walls, stained glass, plush chesterfield tufts and an antique tin-tiled ceiling.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill
The Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill at Scottsdale Fashion Square will feature a palm reader (to help you place your bets!), caricature artist, silent auction and hat contest for its Kentucky Derby festivities! The party is sponsored by Tito’s Handmade and Deep Eddy vodka, and tickets include a food buffet.

Turf Paradise in North Phoenix hosts the largest derby party in the state, with 8,000 expected to attend. Attendees may place their Kentucky Derby wagers and then watch the race live. The track also will host its own races, along with live music and activities for kids. The fashion contest will award best ensemble, outrageous hats, best dressed “gents,” best dressed couples and “little bonnets” for kids 12 and younger. There are various seating and reservations availalbe.
The Stella Artois Derby Day Club will return this year to Turf Paradise, produced by the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships. It’s an exclusive air-conditioned tent set alongside the rails, this year the set up will be four times bigger than previous years! Guests can purchase mint juleps, champagne, beer and cocktails at the bar, and watch the race on 65-inch televisions with betting machines nearby.
