If your dogs are anything like mine, as soon as they see me put on my walking shoes they get excited and run for the door. Fortunately, if you live in DC Ranch, you have many options for taking your dog for a walk, run or hike. With miles of connecting neighborhood trails, you will find a path for every level of exercise. There are over 33 miles of paths that wind gently through the scenic desert neighborhoods. You may experience many different species of wild desert flora and fauna such as Saguaro cactus, Mesquite trees, and beautiful wild flowers all the while burning calories.
If you are looking to take your dog for more of a serious hike, the Gateway Loop Trail at 18333 N. Thompson Peak Parkway is a dog friendly mountain trail. Located in the McDowell Mountain Preserve, there are more than two dozen designated trails with all levels from novice to advanced. All trails are well maintained, with abundant signage to help you get around.
